The hardness of water is mainly composed of cations: calcium (Ca2+) and magnesium (Mg2+) ions. When the raw water containing hardness ions passes through the ion exchange resin layer, the calcium and magnesium ions in the water are exchanged with the sodium ions in the resin, and the resin adsorbs the calcium and magnesium ions, and the sodium ions enter the water, so that the water flowing out of the exchanger is the softened water with the hardness ions removed. With the continuous exchange process, all the Na+ in the resin is placed out and loses the exchange function, at this time, the resin must be regenerated with Nacl solution, and the Ca2+ and Mg2+ adsorbed by the resin are replaced, and the resin readsorbs sodium ions and restores the softening exchange capacity.;
